As part of a design-build team, Nia Architects partnered with two national-level construction and engineering companies to design and construct a 15-story mixed-income tower for seniors just north of Downtown Evanston, IL. Due to a tight turnaround, I had one week to lead a small team to develop a design. We developed a piece of architecture composed of two different forms. The orthogonal brick base was responsive to the neighborhood’s brick mid-rise buildings. The towers form was developed by maximizing views towards downtown and Lake Michigan. Additionally, the tower was a modern tower with an array of colors to symbolize the diversity of the Village of Evanston.
